Narrative essay: what it is and what it consists of
There are quite a few different types of essays. And it is not always possible to immediately understand what the difference between them is, and how to write one or another type correctly.
Today let’s talk about such a work as a narrative essay. It’s easy enough to write if you know all the elements and have a clear idea of what the author has to do.
What it is
A narrative essay is a type of essay in which there is one motif or central plot, and the entire narrative revolves around it. All of the events and characters revolve around this motif.
It looks a lot like an ordinary essay because the format is really the same. But a narrative essay is bound to have characters, events, incidents, and dialogues.
The main task of such a work is to tell about some event and the interaction between the characters. Most often it is a story about the author’s own personal experience. There are high requirements for the plot, which must be vivid and rich.
The basic elements of a narrative essay

- Theme. All events in a narrative essay must revolve around a certain theme. This is the basis that connects all the other elements. In simple terms, such an essay tells the story of a character who got into this or that situation;
- Dialogues. This is a way of conveying information about the events that are described in the essay. The narrative type of essay necessarily includes dialogues.
